Announcing Tweener List 2023 AND New Website
Greetings Triangle Tweener List community! Today, we’re excited to announce that the 2023 Tweener List is now available. This year we were delayed as we invested in significantly upgrading the Tweener List.
Previous Tweener Lists (2015-2022) were a large text file hosted on ExitEvent or Medium. We’re happy to announce that the Tweener List has not only a new home at www.tweenerlist.com, but also has made the move to being a modern database-driven website.
We want to thank our partner, DreamTen, a local design agency, that contributed the graphic design and layout elements to the new site re-design. Also, Tweener Fund, GP, Robbie Allen, developed the back-end code required to go from a text-based site to a more modern-day database-driven system.
New Tweener List Site highlights
This new Tweener List site allows the reader to filter each company by their industry or when they were updated/added to the list. Coming soon will be the ability to sort by headcount or amount raised. Filters have the the most commonly requested features. Also each company’s logo is included as well as the previous details around the CEO, a brief ‘pitch’, the CEO, estimated headcount and links to the company’s website and LinkedIn presence.
Tweener 2023 Highlights
Each year of the Tweener fund covers the year prior, so the 2023 list, covers 2022 and so-on. The 2022 list ended at 248 companies and the 2023 list has added a net of 3 at 251. However, there has been a ton of activity such as:
· 51 new Tweeners discovered
· 48 Tweeners acquired, graduated or closed
· Net result is 251 Tweeners for 2023
Going forward, the 2024 Tweener List will be released in concert with the Raleigh/Durham Startup Week (April 9-12, 2024) - stay tuned for more details as we get closer.
About The Triangle Tweener List and Fund
Triangle Tweener List was started by Scot Wingo to shine a bright spotlight on the up-and-coming class of high-tech startups in the Research Triangle Park (Triangle) region. It started with only 48 companies and over the last 7 years has swelled to over 250. The Tweener List serves many roles including:
· Helping intra and extra Triangle talent find new positions.
· Surfacing our hottest startups to investors outside the Triangle
· Generating new prospects and customers for Triangle startups
· Highlight the scope, breadth and depth of our startup ecosystem for those in and out of the region.

A detailed new video is available on the Tweener List About page that walks through the history and ‘why’ of the Tweener List.
In 2022, we created a sister investing vehicle for the Tweener List called the Triangle Tweener Fund.
Triangle Tweener Fund is managed by two serial entrepreneurs who are the General Partners (GPs): Scot Wingo and Robbie Allen. Tweener Fund leverages the Angel List ‘rolling fund’ platform and thus is always adding accredited investors (LPs). We have kept the minimum investment very low at $20,000 (4 quarterly investments of $5k for the first year) and then ‘rolling’ (quarter-to-quarter) thereafter. In its first year, Tweener fund invested over $2.8m across 48 portfolio companies.
